HYPERTENSION AND WOMEN

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE is known as a silent killer because of its unpredictable attack. The latest research by the expert of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, South Carolina, USA, revealed that women are in the higher risk of having the high blood pressure than men.

Dr. Ferrario and his team studied 100 men and women in the age of minimum 53 years old who experienced the untreated high blood pressure problems. The result showed that, if compared with the men who have the equal level of risk in term of high blood pressure, women have 30%-40% higher risk of vascular disease.

The research that was published in the journal of Therapeutic Advances in Cardiovascular Disease, and suggesting there should be different treatments for women with high blood pressure problems.
