ANXIETY TRIGGERS STROKE

PATIENTS with an anxiety symptoms have bigger risks for stroke. This was the conclusion of a research team of Pittsburgh University, United States, led by Maya J Lambiase recently.

Lambiase and team analyzed the health survey data of 6,019 men and women nationally in the 1971-1975, and then followed their developments for about 16 years. During the time, the participants were interviewed to know about the anxiety syndrome further.

In that period, the research team found that 419 people had the stroke. Overall, those who experienced stroke have a high level of anxiety. At the end of the research, the anxiety risks toward stroke were found to be 14% higher. It was also doubled by smoking, drinking alcohol, or low frequency of physical activities.
