Question :

Dear Doctor, I have a backpain. When I walk for a while, I feel pin and needles sensation from my right butt cheek to my feet. When that happens, I need to sit for a while until the sensation goes away and it reoccurs all the time. I did see a doctor and was given some medication. However, I still experience pain. My X-ray result was also fine. Please give some advice. Thank you.

Answer :

Dear Ms. Tjoeng Tji,

Thank you for your question.

Back pain is a very common symptom and there are a lot of factors that may cause a backpain, from abnormalities on the muscles, nerves, bones, internal organs (kidney, bladder, uterus, ovaries).

If your back pain causes pain on your feet and buttchecks, there is a possible abnormalities on the nerves. This frequently happens from the stimulated nerve root on your spine and it can only ben seen by MRI.

In the meantime, do consume nerves vitamin such as B1/B6/B12. Avoid sudden bending movement to lift heavy items, loud cough or sneezing.

Hope this information helps. For further explanation, do not hesitate to contact our Neurology Team.
