Question :
Dear doctor, I’m still feeling pain after my sectio. I had the surgery 2 months ago (at RSUD KOJA by Dr. Bram Pradipta). The surface is already dry, what about the inside? Will there be an infection?
Answer :
Dear Mrs. Briggita Ariestya Carol,
Post surgery pain can be caused by different factors. Infection is one of them, however IT IS NOT the only factor.
Post caeserian pain often is from the healing process and new development of collagen, muscles (muscles pain) and nerves (nerves pain). Therefore, it is recommended to avoid lifting heavy items and intense activities during the 2 weeks – 1 month after the surgery.
If you still experience pain, we should check whether it is muscle pain or nerves pain. And there are several alternatives to overcome the pain, such as TENS, injection or pain killers. One thing you should remember is the weight loss after giving birth.
Several ways to know whether there is any infection are to check if:
- The wound is in red color, swollen and painful if pressured.
- There is smell or abscess
- The patient has high fever.
If you experience those symptoms, we recommend you to go to the hospital.
Hope this information helps.
