Question :

Today is October 4th 2015. I live in Kelapa Gading, near GADING PLUIT Hospital but I haven't had the time to go to the hospital for consultation. I have a lump on the neck area, not sure whether it is lymph gland or no. The lump is not really visible, however you can feel it and the size is quite big, located on the throat. Sometimes my throat feels a burning sensation but my tonsil is normal. My gum started to swell and there is also sprue, it has been 4 days but there is no sign of recovery yet. There is also a small lump inside my mouth in the lower area, right under the tongue. It's not visible but I can touch it with my tongue. There is no pain, fever, difficulties of swallowing and I can still chew very well. Can you help to diagnose my symptoms?

Answer :

Dear Mr. Hendricus Hendri,

Thank you for your question.

From the locations you described, there are a few possibilities of where the lumps come from.
Dari lokasi yang Anda gambarkan, ada berbagai kemungkinan sal-usul benjolan yang Anda rasakan.

First of all, lymph gland should be considered, especially the symptoms occured are in the mouth area. Surely such nodes is a reaction to inflammation, not a malignant tumor.

Another possibility is that the swelling is derived from the salivary glands or other organs such as the thyroid gland in the neck or cysts that are innate. In short, plenty of possibilities that can cause an enlargement in the neck, below the mouth, and I suggest you to consult with a Surgeon so accurate diagnosis can be be determined as soon as possible.

Hope this information helps.
