Vertigo is a sensation / feeling which one feels her surrounding environment is always moving or rotating, due to disturbance of body balance. The body balance helps us to prepare when there is a change of position. For instance, when we climb up or down a mountain, our body knows the how to position itself to prevent us from falling.

Simply, the nerves system starts from the receptor. The stimulus therefore is forwarded to the central nerves system / brain to be studied (based on one’s knowledge and experience). Afterward, the brain commands to respond the stimulus. For example, if our hand is pinched, the receptor in our hand will send the stimulus to the brain and the brain will command us to pull away from the pinching.

The receptors are all over our body, i.e. receptor of pain, cold, hot, under the skin, taste, smell and so on.

For our body balance, the receptors can be our eyes, ears and legs sensoric system. Vertigo may occurs there are disruption on those receptors. The ears and their nerves path hold an important role, therefore a Patient can consult to an ENT specialist.
