Welcome to our 2017 medical conference on 7th Recent Advances In Cancer Diagnosis & Therapy: “Multi - Disciplinary Approach for Oncology Management.”
Cancer has become major morbidity and mortality in the world. WHO estimated 14 million new cases and 8 million deaths in 2012. New cases are expected to rise by about 70% in the next 2 decades, nearly 1 in 6 deaths is due to cancer. In 2015, the most common causes of cancer deaths are cancers of lung (37%), liver (17%), colorectal (17%), stomach (16%), and breast (13%). Some of the most common cancer types, such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, oral cancer, and colorectal cancer have high cure rates when detected early and treated
according to best practices. Some cancer types, even when cancerous cells have traveled to other areas of the body, such as testicular seminoma, leukaemias and lymphomas in children, can have high cure rates if early appropriate treatment is provided
In its history, cancer treatment has developed tremendously from surgery, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, radiation, and adjuvant therapy, to more advance methods like immunotherapy, targeted cancer treatment such as growth signal inhibitor, induced apoptosis, and endogenous angioinhibitos, to future cancer treatment like antiangiogenic chemotherapy, more targeted treatments, and nanotechnology. Single “cure-all” drug for cancer has not yet been developed. Until now, we still believe in multi-modality and multi-disciplinary approach as the closest strategy in winning the fight against cancer.
GADING PLUIT HOSPITAL as part of Indonesian health society has committed to continuously support our colleagues in updating knowledge and understanding on the issues. How to manage less harmful treatment to obtain best outcome has become our concern for the safety and welfare of the patients.
We are grateful to have distinguished speakers from Indonesia, USA and China for their support in sharing their best knowledge and experiences, not only for this symposium but also for the development of cancer management particularly in GADING PLUIT Hospital.
Last but not the least, a short workshop on colon cancer is also included to conclude our one-day symposium. We hope this symposium will intrique your interest and participation.
